Hello! Thank you for considering my work for your commission!! Here are some things you should expect during this process!

We begin with your inquiry: what you want to be painted. Please reach out to me via my Instagram's messaging (@maile.rhea.art) or my email (maile.rhea.art@gmail.com) with your request. I should get back to you within a few days!

FIRST AND FOREMOST: Please review my previous work before deciding to commission me! While I can branch out slightly stylistically, there are some types of art (complete abstraction, perfect realism, certain graphic design styles, etc.) that I would not be the best artist to do. If you are unsure, feel free to ask in your initial inquiry and we can discuss my artistic scope! If we reach an impasse, I am happy to refer you to other artists!

When you reach out, here are some things that, if you have preferences about, you should definitely include in your message:

  • Your name, email, and phone number so we have a method of contact, and I am able to send you invoices and shipping info when that time comes.

  • Size of the piece

  • Approximate budget

  • Approximate deadline (I prefer you to be flexible with this, please don't come to me needing a large painting in a week, my best work is never rush-ordered)

  • Any concrete thematic requests (certain animals, images, colors, style references etc. that you would like to see in the final piece)

From that initial request, we will work together on a final outcome and, if necessary, I will send you a rough sketch and color palette for us to mutually understand what we are working towards.

Once our rough idea is ironed out, you will sign a brief contract including the cost, timeline, scope, and sketches we agreed upon, as well as some basic use restrictions. (I don't want my work being used to train AI models or copied without my knowledge/consent, as well as some other broader things that will seem obvious to most buyers.)

At this time, I will also request 50% of the total costs agreed upon via PayPal Invoicing to begin work. This doesn't require a PayPal account for you, the requester, and acts as a barrier of protection against scams for both of us!

Depending on the timeline, I may send you progress photos, and you are welcome to request progress photos. I prefer to avoid making changes to what we have officially discussed after beginning work, but if you catch me early enough in the process, and we both discuss and find the changes agreeable, I am willing to make exceptions. Art is a process, and I want to maximize enjoyment for everyone involved, so I am mostly flexible. With that being said, please remember that I am just a person, and I do have a day job as well. Your patience is greatly appreciated through all stages of this process!

When I have finished the piece, I will send you a photo for final approval. This step is mainly to prove it's existence to you, I really prefer not to make major changes at this point in the process! You will get chances before this to chat with me about preferences and adjustments! At this time, you will also receive another PayPal invoice for the final 50% of payment. After I have received final payment, I will ship the piece, usually with tracking, and send you all the shipping info, and a photo of the item being shipped.

I hope you enjoy your piece!
